This is a Burkert semi-direct operating 2/2 way solenoid valve with 1/2 inch NPT threads and a 24 V AC/DC coil. The valve has a stainless steel housing with NBR sealing and an orifice size of 12 mm. The circuit function of the solenoid valve is normally closed, which means the valve opens when voltage is applied. The semi-direct operating valve opens without differential pressure. Suitable for a pressure of 0 – 16 bar (232 psi) and a maximum temperature of 80 °C (176 °F). The valve has a Kv-value of 1.8 m3/h, this translates to a flow rate of 30 l/min at a differential pressure of 1 bar (for water). In imperial units: Cv = 2, which means 2 GPM @ 1 psi pressure drop. The stainless steel housing is very durable, strong and resistant to a wide range of chemicals with the exception of chloride solutions. The NBR (nitrile rubber) sealing is suited for water, air, alcohol and is fairly resistance to oil and petrol. NBR is unsatisfactory with oxidising fluids. Please note that the internal valve parts, such as the stainless steel plunger and springs, are also in contact with the medium and must be chemically compatible. The Bürkert 0290 valve is a semi-direct (servo assisted) solenoid valve of the S.EV series. The membrane features a fixed coupling to a plunger. This means that the valve opens without a differential pressure over the valve. It can be used for low pressure applications, such as gravity fed systems or closed circulating circuits. The valve is designed for a quiet operation. All UC variants have electronic control to achieve a high inrush current to open the valve and a low holding current to keep the valve in the opened position. This “kick and drop” system results in low power consumption and low heat generation, contributing to the 0290’s extended lifecycle.
